Crying for joy

Heike Verleih was raised in an atmosphere so unloving that self-hatred became a way of life.  It even landed her in the hospital.  Here’s the beautiful story of how she learned to love both herself and her mom, finding joy and freedom in forgiveness.

The childlike wonder in Heike’s speaking voice and the crystal-clear radiance of Tabea’s singing voice combine to make the message of this story “so hauntingly beautiful and enchanting,” as Alanna says above. It’s also “crying for joy … crazy.”

I pray this podcast will find its way to every child of God who needs to hear that they have the same Christlike nature of forgiveness and deserving abaility to earn the same diploma Heike has.

One of the greatest gifts I have ever received was from the Sunday School teacher that taught me God is my father and mother. My mother hurt me. I came to think about what was motivating her actions and words. Fear, not me. Today I spent joyful hours with her, celebrating her. And celebrating myself. Your message is a beautiful crown to our day.

Heike–thank you so much for sharing so openly . . .my favorite part was the end of your podcast, where your joy and gladness just bubbled over :). What a joyous relief it must be, to be free of the weight of unforgiveness. I’m still working on it . . . but I’m not giving up :)

    Dear Heike,
Crying for joy…what a beautiful thing. Thank you for sharing this story. It reminds me of a song by Michael Bolton that my mom loves, which says, “Love is a wonderful thing…makes you smile through the pouring rain…”. So glad with you, knowing that real Love is always a warm, embracing God.

  11. Dear Heike,
What a lovely story this is.. Thank you so much for your sharing and for the tender love you taught those of us who are learning to love someone who doesn’t seem to love us.
I needed this today because of a difficult encounter I had yesterday with a woman who has been difficult in my life..
    You are a blessing..
    Love to you,
    Ginny
