Dying to be cool
After an instantaneous healing of deadly fever, Amy Richmond was thrilled to be alive and well. But she was even more thrilled by a glimpse of God, of Love, that changed her life forever.
Note: the “practitioner” Amy mentions is a Christian Scientist healer who works full time to help people resolve health, financial, and other issues through prayer.

Thank you so much for this story. It touched me beyond words. I too almost died just after my son was born. Also, my brother had just died suddenly and our family was sunk in fear and turmoil. Plus, my marriage was fragile and ended a few years later, like Amy’s. It’s so sweet now to recall how God brought us through!
When we hear stories like this that mirror our own lives so closely, it makes us realize that God sends us out to be a testament to His love.
Also, thank you for this amazing project. I’m a Presbyterian, introduced to Radical Acts by a Christian Science friend. I can’t believe what a mother load of divine power and inspiration I’ve found on this site. I’ve visited again and again, and over time I’m feeling a deep renewal of my relationship with Jesus Christ. I couldn’t be more grateful.
Thank you EVERYONE for your nice comments. You touch my heart, each of you. :)
I have to say that I like the music interludes, too. Tabea Mangelsdorf has a wonderful voice, and she was one of the people I was telling my story. (Anna Procter was the other interviewer.) It was so easy to talk with them! I believe that Tabea composed the music specifically for this piece and that’s pretty special.
Amy – I was touched by this story, by this evidence of God’s great Love. Thank you so much for sharing this. I have found that expediency in healing when I feel the desire to participate in life 100 fold.
What an absolutely wonderful story. It made me cry with joy while hearing it. I actually loved the music. It gave me a moment to soak in the words and get the full impact of that story segment. Interesting, because when I listened to another post, I didn’t feel that way about the music. The love here came through so strongly that I never felt the testimony was a “stage production.” It was just God’s reflection. The music was incredibly beautiful, like angel thoughts and notes soothing and nurturing. Wonderful. Wonderful. Wonderful. Thanks so very much for sharing your experience Amy. I treasure hearing about it.
Amy this is a great story and it’s amazing how God made you better.
Sweet Amy,
What a beautiful example of God’s ever-present love for Her children! You are living testimony to the power of grace and goodness and the receptivity you showed during that time is an inspiration and reminder for us all that God never gives up on us.
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly equipped to perform every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Wonderful production work, music, and interviewing – what a sincere expression of gratitude by all those involved!
Amen!
Thanks Amy – powerful and beautiful. The music in between was a great interlude to naturally cherish every part of it.
Amy, thank you so much for sharing this beautiful experience. What power of Love! And thanks for including that this healing so embraced you in Christian Science so you wanted to go back to it after your divorce.
The power of love to quench fear came through loud and clear. As that sweet baby has grown love has likely increased 100 x 100 fold, even more than you could ever imagine. Sharing this here magnifies the love even more. I can feel it. Thanks.
Amy, this is a profoundly moving and important testimony.
I am sorry though that someone interrupted your story with phrases and breaks
of music. It interferes with the important flow of your words and thoughts.
I am cheering for you, and I thank you for sharing this. God bless.
To the producers:
It is beautiful music, and might have been OK at the end.
I hope you consider again before turning an amazing testimony into a “stage-show production.”
It seems to me that the original principle of love behind this healing is carrying forward this testimony, and it is presented in the exact form or shape needed for the readers of this site. How could it not be. God is the producer of this whole entire message of love. Much appreciation to everyone involved in all of the different aspects of this healing and its telling.
So glad to hear about the laughter and sense of humor in the hospital Amy. I recently spent some time at City of Hope with my cousin. Her room was full of joy and music in spite of those big machines!
This is wonderful and so genuine and natural.
Amy, this is truly inspirational. Thank you sooo much for sharing. I love how so many of these moments of radical reliance on God are moments in which we have no other choice but to rely on Him. It is really never about us or our personal spiritual ability, but about God and His might.
This is the type of story the Bible is made of! In fact, so many of the people in the Bible are downright incapable or “not good enough” for the task at hand.
