Hey all! You may have noticed some spam in your inbox recently (but even if you didn’t, please read below), and that’s coming from our activity stream. If you’ve been with us for awhile, you know this has been a recurring problem that we’ve been battling.
The question we want to ask is: does anyone actually use this functionality? It’s purpose is to keep track of everyone’s comments, blogs, forum posts, and membership details in one place. You can see your personal activity stream at http://time4thinkers.com/members/{insert_your_username}, or find it in the dropdown menu in the top right where it says “Howdy” in your admin bar. This discussion area would work just the same if the activity stream were turned off.
We are just as irritated as you when we get hit with spam, so we just want to make sure you’re getting value out of the activity functionality… not just annoyance! Please let us know.
I, for one, don’t really use this functionality.
I don’t use it either.
I’m guessing all the other admin stuff would stay the same? I could happily live without an activity stream.
I’ve never used it.
Nope, I don’t use it either.
Yes, everything else would stay the same. It sounds pretty unanimous… any other voices?
I’m curious if anyone is policing/trying to eliminate the bogus user profiles that seem to be frequenting the site in attempt to advertise black market products.
I do delete those advertisement posts. We could probably be more on top of this.
Yes, I should delete those more often.
