HIV/AIDS – is this a punishment?

Dear friends,

There was a saying that this is a punishment, other religion are saying that this is the way that God-given so humans will be closer and closer to him
How should have as a follower of CS, responding to and pray when the nearest person, companions or some others in our environment is medically infected with a virus?

I really apologize if i picked up the previous topic which is probably extreme . I always saw wonderful testimonial where the disease like cancer, tumors and other disease, and they all healed with the prayers of christian science, truly i saw it when my mother was recovering only with several days from a severe disease herpes with the help of by CS practitioner.

But this is the one thing that i always thinking about, and sometimes makes me fear what if my own body infected by this virus, or my friends, one of my family, people in same environment.

I often think about it, given my past who had experienced all things that seem to be at risk to be infected.

Please if anyone can give the answer.

No, it is not a punishment. God does not know about sickness.
What is spreading there, what appears to be a deadly virus, is fear on mortal mind. Fear that the body may be the victim of matter.
You as a Christian Scientist are set in the middle of that area of fear to pray about this. Build a strong defense against your own fear. Know every day that God is the only power, the only cause and creator. We turn to God naturally, because the power of God, Christ, is the Comforter, and He really comforts us, because when we turn to God, what is most normal appears on the body: health.
Believing that a disease were a kind of punishment for whatever a person did, is Animal Magnetism, trying to pull our thinking into feeling guilt and despair. Keep your own thinking free of that, unmask it, it has no chance unless we admit it. You have the power of Soul behind your work, so never give up, we are here for you whenever you need our support.

God never causes sickness, ever, for any reason. Anything that would suggest that God and man are separate is a lie. Just like the sun wouldn’t need to punish the rays to get them to shine, Mind doesn’t need to punish us to have us express Him. We are Mind’s idea. We don’t have health of our own. We express the wholeness and completeness of divine Life.

This is the truth of man’s being. It doesn’t matter how many people believe something else. Man is always safe as God’s reflection.

Many things come to mind. But I will spare you from a lengthy post and instead only share a couple of them. ;)

First, in Science and Health:
Know thyself, and God will supply the wisdom and the occasion for a victory over evil. Clad in the panoply of Love, human hatred cannot reach you.

Also from S&H:
Chastity is the cement of civilization and progress. Without it there is no stability in society, and without it one cannot attain the Science of Life.

And from Jesus, recorded in John 9:
And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

Hi Moraya,

The idea the HIV or AIDS is God’s punishment for those who have been sinful is more than ridiculous. This is fundamentalist Christianity at its very worst. The so-called Christian groups who spout this kind of garbage are so hate-filled that to answer their stupid arguments is a complete waste of time.

Today, thank God, there have been great advancements, from a medical point of view, in treating the AIDS situation. AIDS is no longer the killer it once was just a few years ago.

Next time, when you hear ideas about “God’s” punishment expressed by those around you, tell them that a kind, all-loving God would never, never treat his/her creation in such a way.
