Hi all,
For over a month, my high school drama class has endured the gruelling stages of rehearsals for our school production. And now, with the opening night looming in just over a week, I have been constantly bugged with self doubt and worry… Although I know my lines, stage direction and cues, I have been overwhelmed with thoughts like ‘what if I do something wrong? everyone will judge me!’ and the big ‘I can’t'… I know that I am capable of succeeding and putting on a great performance, but the error thoughts are still lingering at the back of my mind. Apart from knowing that the performance is governed by God and there is no room for failure or error, is there anything else I can take into my performance?
Thanks
Hi Sky –
I like to remember how everything I’ll ever need is already included in who I am. It’s not “out there” for me to connect with in some way either randomly or on purpose, but it’s part of my very God-given identity. And that’s true for you, too.
So it’s not that you’re on your own trying to make sure you allow God to govern you. You are at one with your Creator…always.
Can’t wait to hear about the fun you have next week!
Hi Sky- Lingering thoughts of self-doubt, aren’t coming from God–the one Ego, or Self. You can see these thoughts of fear for what they are, simply an impersonal belief of more than one Mind, Life, Self. You are good enough because you are the effect of the one Cause, Good.
When I go to see live performances–concerts or whatever–I’m not looking for human perfection, I’m feeling the presence of Soul expressed through the performers. That’s what the audience notices, whether they can put their finger on it or not.
No doubt, the same God that caused you to be a part of this fun experience, is the same Soul that will shine right through your performance–and the performances of your fellow actors. The audience will feel it and love it!
Hi Sky — Yes indeed, you can take your wonderful joy and love for your fellow performers, directors and audience :) God loves everyone, and you can totally feel that love every time you’re on stage.
Have fun :)
