This is a fun passage that I like to read everyday–especially in the morning. It is from The Message Bible translation, Colossians 3:12.
“So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dressed in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it!”
This passage just reminds me to express love, humility, and forgiveness throughout my day, which I think of as three very important qualities to share on a day-to-day bases.
Here’s a verse I like – Jude 1:13 (KJV)
13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
It’s rather depressing, but I like it ’cause the bolded part is the chorus in a(n also depressing) Portishead song which has some other Biblical allusions in it. I just like the idea of using Biblical imagery in other works.
I’m pretty sure the point of your thread wasn’t to get us all posting Bible verses we like, but…Que Será, Será
Ah, yeah, but to address your verse – it’s a good one, as well ;)
“Wear[ing] love” like a garment is a very memorable image, indeed.
