But I believed that Jesus conception by Mary through the power of the Holy Spirit was only later made known as the gospels were written. For if Jesus conception by Mary before Joseph took Mary as wife were known by the public, the public would found this to be religiously repulsive. And when the public are in a religious repulsive mood can then Jesus had any chance of gaining an audience?
