Plain talk about relationships and sexuality
Christian Science lecturers Ginny Luedeman and Chet Manchester have prayed a lot about relationships over the years. They share some of their experiences and good healing ideas in this unscripted — and frank — talk that took place at College Summit 2012.

While the Commandment “Thou shalt not commit adultery” was brought up at least once, to me the talk still leaves a little too much the impression that sex outside of marriage is more of a lifestyle decision that might not prove as rewarding as we anticipate. It seems to me that it might be possible to spare people a lot of pain by addressing this more directly as sin. I love the shoes on the wrong feet analogy, but I think it’s also fair to recognize that sex outside of marriage can sometimes be in your life more like an explosive in the road than just an unsatisfied feeling about things. However much friends, family and church people refrain from judgement, that might not be the point. Don’t do it because it’s a sin and you’re going to get hurt and/or you will be hurting someone else in ways that you may have no way of knowing at the moment. Jesus said, “If thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee, for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.” Our larger society certainly tries to argue against the Bible on this point! Huge thanks to Ginny and Chet for their selfless efforts to be sure these kids will never have to learn this the hard way!
This is a wonderful talk! Thank you Ginny and Chet and all who participated in bringing this to us!
