Grant Taylor: Follow the Flame
Audio only
Growing up in the LA area, Taylor bounced on his Paw-Paw’s knee at the age of 4 watching him juggle one instrument after another to perform the blues. Over a decade ago, Taylor found his musical gift singing in local coffee houses and open mics; most recently at Whisky A Go Go, Round Up, and Church. Following in his Granddad’s legacy, life’s ups and downs have empowered Taylor’s voice and musical scores with the rich acoustic sound of the steel-string guitar that capture his audience’s imagination.
Follow the Flame
Lyrics:I'm afraid of what might come my way
I'm afraid I might not make it out to see the light of day yea
things are slim to nothing and I'm feeling there's no place to go
my heart is tired of hopin and being thrown to and fro
I wanna take the back streets yea but my feet just won't move
only God knows what I'll become or the extents that I'll go to
staying true to my self is the only thing that keeps me sane.
Walking in these underground corridors as I follow the flame
Chorus
Follow the flame
its all within range
follow the flame
regain your aim
pick your face up off the ground
and regain your aim
follow the flame
Days pass by like minutes and its hard to see what goes and comes
I wish I could reach back through time yea and change where I started from
I guess I wouldn't know what I know now and though its hard for me to breathe
There's a voice inside my heart man that keeps telling me
To believe in more than I see
to believe something greater than me
and when all said and done you're gonna know why you came
Follow the flame
its all with in aim
follow the flame
regain your aim
pick your face up of the ground yeah
and regain your aim
follow the flame
feel the truth about you feel the love surround you
you are loved loved loved loved yeah
it feels good to feel love yes
to be believin
if you're walking through it
I know what it feels like
to know to be down
but you can rise out
there are good time on the other side yeah
feeling love
it feels so good x2
I know what it feels like to know
hurt and pain you gotta let it go let it go
at the end it says I never left you in Tagalog, French, Swahili, and Spanish and Arabic

God doesn’t send us trials but they do send us to Him. I can see looking back though how His love was always on the move. I want to thank you for the wrench analogy though and I’d like to add that I use wrenches all the time now for the work I do and one thing for sure is that its good to have the right one at the right time. Thank God,CS,MBE.

I LOVE this!! Thank you so much!
Ah, I guess I already commented. Well. It’s still so good.
Thank you for sharing your light and sincerity!
I listened to a song from Alex Cook about notes and how we are all notes in God’s grand harmony or something to that accord. I think he is so right about us all being notes and expressing distinctively in our own way God’s plan. I love God and the healing message of the Christian Science movement. Bigs to Mary Baker Eddy for Science & Health. Than you!
Hi Grant — You are wonderful! Thank you for your story, your healing inspiration, and your empowering music!
Outstanding! I love the music, the message and the way you present it – especially where you sing, “But you can rise out.” That reminded me of a passage in Science and Health where Mrs. Eddy says, “Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good. God has made man capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power divinely bestowed on man.” (393:12) That Spirit is shining through you and your music. Thank you for sharing it with us.
God’s loves fills all space and His infinite purpose is liberating at even just a peak. To know He loves you and nothing can change that is a sword and shield forged by spiritual craftship to slice right through error and defend against even its biggest bully of suggestion. With God we always rise out beyond doubt and fear, new, blessed. Thank you
Hey thanks for commenting. It feel great to be expressing God’s love I have another track and more to come up on my site haik.bandcamp.com . Check it out if you find time. Again thanks and God bless!
God is SO good, and you Grant are a shining example of Her Love! What an honor for me to add my appreciation for your music and your unselfish, loving example. Thank you Grant for being willing to shine for all to see!!
Cool to you too for taking time to say something and God bless
Very cool
Thanks, it very inspires me in keep going with college as well as University!
I know, yes I will progress in life who is God I am what I am! Love is God!
2 tim, 1:7 says that God does not give us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of sound mind. This scripture was in the RR window of Third Church in downtown L.A. the night I heard God’s voice. This love He gives guides and strengthens and heals to the core every need. Thank you
I could tell that song came right from your heart. Thank you so much for sharing it.
Proverbs talks of writing the words of wisdom on the tablets of your heart and keeping them above all else. My Uncle Herb a God fearing man who took time out of his life with his family to show me God had me read from Proverbs every night even if it was late after my homework. My cousin Tymon and I cleaned the properties my Uncle and Aunt had for 5 dollars a week. The back yard at the Topeka has had acorn trees and those trees can put out some work. My uncle Herb and Aunt Mondene still serve God and have been a light for me a flame so to speak of what Gods wisdom in the heart can do.
Grant,
can you please tell a bit about the girl’s voice,
speaking before you start singing your song?
That voice is my cousin Taylor who 14 at the time was going through trouble in school and having serious issues of self worth. She and her 3 siblings stay with my Grand mother & Grandfather in Riverside Ca. My Grandmother who also spent time raising my brothers and cousins and I is now 72 and it has been hard on here to keep up with Taylor. I thought it might be good for Taylor to here how good she was as well as how much she means to me and God. She hurts from things she had no control over and I know that feeling. The feeling of being abandoned, confused, angry at self, God, my parents, the teachers, even those were giving me a place to stay, anything with authority made me want to rebel. I still rebel except now I rebel against error and its nothing purpose, its lie that Love, God can be absent this track is our demonstration together you me and her and who ever hears His voice in this song. Thanks for askng
Hey Grant,
Thank you for singing and playing your song.
It is an amazing, strong, inspiring testimony.
The words, the tune, the beat makes us want to MOVE…
and pray and follow the flame.
Movement of sound is part of worship and as children of God we worship His name with every strum of Good that inspires the heart. The Lord is my strength and my song and my testimony is about how much I have grown to Love Him! Thank you for opening your heart to this!
what a talent. A rich and snooth voice. thanks so much for sharing the music and the message:)
Thank you so much for saying how smooth and rich this track sound or my voice sounds over this track. I have to say that before waking up to Science and even after before it totally hit me how good CS’n was I thought I couldn’t sing or play anymore. As a matter of fact before I did the Summit in Pasadena last year. I felt I had hurt my vocals trying to prepare. The Ace in the hole for that performance the night of was just to open my mouth and let the Lord sing and that’s how it has been ever since. Thank God for AceDrummer, Ericguitar, AlexBass and oneness of purpose!
Rewards come from God openness is of Him and all is well when we find nothing else matters but the unstoppable affirmation of Spirit reflected. Thank you and God bless!
Every one of us is favored and I thank you for your wonderful feed back God bless you a I look forward to hearing more of your feed back. Thank you
Grant Taylor
This is brilliant!! I love it! Fantastic beat and rhythm….has just lifted me here and now as I know exactly how you (Grant) have been feeling. Thanks so much for sharing this :)
Love makes us free and I found this love in Science and in Mrs Eddy’s drive for helping people express it. The lift just keeps cranking and Good God sustains it!
Brother Grant, you are a living testimony to God’s healing love. This song is being heard by every child of God on a couch somewhere listening and looking for the light they know is in them. Its message knocks over the prescription bottle, shatters the pipes, and uplifts the soul.
Thank you, child.
God doesn’t send us trial but they do send us to him and his love delivers brimming over.
Thank you
Amen!
Thank-you SO SO much for opening yourself to us and sharing your life and music. You are very generous and rewarded with talent. Thank-you!
Awesome music and lyrics!!! You can’t listen to this song without at least tapping your foot, smiling, and wanting to get up from the computer and dance!!!! May we all inspire and empower each other to follow the flame, follow the burning light, of God’s love revealing to us, as to Grant, who we really are!
when I wrote this song I could feel what the source was and I fought back at it and wrestled with it and the Sun came in, The Christ to let me know it was okay
Thanks so much, Grant. This one’s a keeper. It was just filled with the Spirit. Keep on letting your light shine.
Lights are meant to do that according to the word and the word is the rock and when we have it we can’t help but to shine. Thank you so much and I will
Probably my favorite daily musician song to date. Terrific!
Every one of us is favored and I thank you for your wonderful feed back God bless you a I look forward to hearing more of your feed back. Thank you

Hi Grant, I really enjoyed hearing your story and your song! Especially liked the words: “feel the truth about you feel the love surround you” and “hurt and pain you gotta let it go let it go” – this is a very powerful, healing message that can only bless you and everyone who hears it. Thank you.
God moves and we do the same because we reflect his love and goodness. May you feel that always, thank you!
