Jay and Tessa Frost: Peace Like a River

Audio Only

Tessa and Jay Frost got married last fall, and we’re pretty sure that songwriting and performing together over the past 3 years had something to do with it. Hang out near their cozy Seattle apartment most any night of the week and you’re sure to hear sounds of jazz, hymns, and folk music spilling out onto the street. You might even hear the finishing touches on their first collection of Christian Science solos, called Soulshine.

Song Title:

Peace Like a River

Lyrics:

I will extend peace, peace like a river,
To lift you up and carry you home.
Just like a mother comforts her children,
Just so will I, with you.
The man he was dirty, empty -
Unseen, unwanted and torn.
A battle raged, deep within him;
A war of wills with a shadow called “sin”.
It felt like he’d wandered his whole life,
Homeless among homes, alive among tombs.
But it there, when there was no light,
He heard a voice inside, like an angel guide:
“You, My most precious gift; you, who My image bear. You, not what you think you see; you - you are the best of Me. “
This whisper pursued him, convinced that it knew him -
Innocent and free, as he was made to be.
Day by day it grew louder
And with it came peace, peace like a river.
The man, he was gentled, redeemed -
Like the child he’d forgotten inside.
Steady and sure, this touch of a Mother;
God knew him, a child divine.
“You, My most precious gift; you, who My image bear. You, not what you think you see; you - you are the best of Me. “
I will extend peace, peace like a river,
To lift you up, and carry you home.
Just like a mother comforts her children,
Just so will I, with you.

    Wow! What an incredible song to keep in our hearts as we view God’s men, women and children of every identification or misidentification. And, your redeeming song is so enhanced by the superb article written by Jenny Sawyer, titled: “Ugh…Facebook comparisons” using Matthew 3:17 as a solid basis for spiritual identification, which can be found at: time4thinkers.com Posted on Thursday, May 24th, 2012 at 10:42 am

    Of course you know how healing a ‘true’ spiritual song can be, and yours is already helping to heal the world.

    Namaste’

    Jay and Tessa, what a Soul-inspired offering , a Love-filled sound…as usual; Wynne, your sweet strings added a special touch! You 3 know I’m one of your biggest cheerleaders, just so happy there are now many more who have heard and been touched by your writing and music.

  7. Jimmy,James,Jason,John says:

    OH The beauty of these words and voice and piano and violin. It was all very moving and I sang silently deepening the meaning of the words for me. I don’t know how you could sing this through without here and there choaching up on a tear, or two. It is the flats in the music that are so expressive. I could hear though how you blossomed out fully in these passages. THANK-YOU THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU. I dropped into your homepage and heard excerps from your new album. It put wings to my movements. I was suddenly dancing. Maybe you are our new Mother Church Soloists.
