Song Title:Step on the Devil's Hat
Lyrics:When my baby’s turnin’ inside out
He’s givin’ in to fear and doubt
When the devil’s tellin’ him those lies
I tell him what I would tell you guys
You got to step on the devil’s hat
Just step on the devil’s hat
Don't let him pull you this way and that
Let’s get together and step on the devil’s hat
Devil thinks that he can get your goat
When he dressed up in his hat and coat
Wants you to think you ain’t worth a penny
He’ll take your joy cause he ain’t got any
Devil comes to put your soul up for sale
Wants to look good down to every detail
Tell your daughters and tell your sons
Tell your friends and your dear ones
When the holes seem as big as the road
And your seeds of sadness have been sowed
There’s one way to let the sunshine back in
Take away the devil’s smug vain grin
Devil wants to make you color blind
Make your happiness hard to find
There’s a way to take his power best
Like pouring water on the witch of the west

Thanks Lisa, just came upon your song today and what a great message for today when the ‘devil’ wants to play a role in my thought – but not now!
Yo that’s a super jam.
Nice. :)
Thanks Sweetheart for this prayer and practical way to sing out freedom to all our family globe wide;)
LOVE your ministry – THANKS and keep on;) XXOOO
What happy music! Great strength to get rid of the D-evil and replace it with God’s joy.
Thank you Lisa and Time4Thinkers staff.
YEAH!!
I played Lisa’s glad, power-filled prayer-song again this morning over the phone to a friend — to give strength and courage. She felt the “devil” (the belief that fear/pain/struggle had power over her) and was pulling her ’ this way and that’…
Then another powerful song came to the rescue too…– the first words of a poem by Mary Baker Eddy
“SAW ye my SAVIOUR?
HEARD YE THE GLAD!!! SOUND ?
FELT YE THE POWER OF THE WORD!!!!!….”
Yes!!!!
Thanks again Lisa. We can pray with authority with such songs!
Thanks to time4thinkers.com for these singers and their new “hymns!”
Thanks Lisa! Lots of power in the words, the rhythm and your sweet, clear voice.
Interesting to know the Seeger family background, and that you were onstage with Pete Seeger. I saw him perform probably 45 years ago in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Did you ever hear him sing the spiritual “Paul and Silas was in jail. Had nobody to go them bail. Keep your eyes on the prize — Hold on! Hold on!…” just part of the refrain. That whole concert it was only Pete in the middle of a big stage — and he FILLED it! Filled the auditorium, and filled us up too.
You communicate in this same way! I love your music — and what’s more, it steps on the devil’s hat!
What a joyous song! I love the idea of stepping on that old devil’s hat, stripping it of power. It sounds like you had fun doing it. More gospel from Lisa please!
Great to hear your voice, Lisa, and such a fun, song! Thanks Time4Thinkers
I love it, I love it, I love it! I loved the back story of the Gospel singer saying the reason we sing Gospel is to remember our strength and to show the Devil he can’t have power over us. CS shows us we can remember our strength as Gods loved child with dominion over Devils lies. He can’t twist us this way and that, can’t take our joy cause he aint got any.”
After working to see the blame for supposedly real and scary problems in my life is animal magnetism and its deceptions instead of some real condition, I love this song because it shows we have dominion, we can unite in love with one another to show the Devil (lies lies lies) he hasn’t got power over us!
Thank you Lisa, I too think this song is uplifting and encouraging!!
I love your comments Melinda.
