Matter

How can intelligence dwell in matter when matter is non-intelligent and brain-lobes cannot think? Matter cannot perform the
functions of Mind.

Science and Health 478: 20-23
What is matter really? In Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, matter is described as illusion, false sense, error. So can mistakes or errors think for themselves? Are we made of mistakes, illusions? Or are we made of the permanence of Love and Life as explained in Christian Science?

Love this! I set the wallpaper from this site as my desktop wallpaper on my work computer each week–so refreshing to have these great reminders!

    Thanks!

I’m reminded when studying the lesson this week about the unreality of matter of comments made by famous physicists. Steven Hawkings recently made a statement that science makes God unnecessary. Someone in a recent periodical responded to this statement with God makes matter unnecessary. Also, Albert Einstein in later life repudiated his relativity theory and believed that time was an illusion. Einstein’s son and daughter-in-law were Christian Scientists, and I once read somewhere that Einstein had seen two scientists who were Christian Scientists healed of the effects of radiaiton poisoning through their use of the scientific statement of being, something to keep in mind with what’s happening right now in Japan.

I love how this captures the meaning of the passage so clearly! I come here every Monday to see what gift for the week awaits. I even put this one as the background on my Android phone. Keep up the great work. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
