Michelle Armstrong: I’ll forgive

Michelle writes:  I was surprised to find myself so intrigued by the radical act, “FORGIVE 70 x 7.”  I knew the topic would encourage me to dig, and that the inspiration would arrive.

Just two weeks later, I was presented with the perfect opportunity! I awoke to find my car had been broken into. Many special things were taken, including a guitar I used for traveling. Immediately I knew I had to forgive this individual of the crime committed. The next morning I left for a three-day road trip, which gave me ample time to pray about the experience.

This healing encouraged me to discover that there were a plethora of small, dishonest acts I had committed in the past that I never forgave myself for. If I was going to completely accept this stranger’s innocence — I had to accept my own. I felt a beautiful freedom  for both myself and this stranger by the end of the road trip.  Thank you, Jesus, for such a profound lesson!

FORGIVE 70 x 7

 LYRICS
By Michelle Armstrong

Broken locks
And treasures gone
I was left to wonder
Who did wrong?
Who had stung my peace

In my past I’ve held on to errors
That I need to see
Just as false, and sure of healing
“Thy sins be, forgiven thee.” (Jesus)

Chorus
I’ll forgive and pardon
until  70 x 7,   And still
For us both, from within I know
We all need compassion and grace to grow

Thief, crook, burglar, robber
Blood upon our hands
Love can break the words that bind us
Free God’s man
Never damned

Chorus

Lured in by a lie that says you and I are
judged, defeated, alone..
But lies are nothing but lies… We’re safe in the world the Almighty knows.
With Him we are preserved.

Chorus

  2. Lisa Graser says:

Thank you Michelle. What a beautiful song and way to pray! Today I was talking with my mother in law about people that I remember have done things to my son that upset me and I was blaming them and holding a grudge.

She told me that I needed to separate the error from the person and forgive them to move forward and free my son from this thought. It’s hard to see past personality sometimes and not feel attacked.

I was led here to your song and it was so perfect! Father/Mother Love is the one caring for each of our/Her children- now, yesterday, today and tomorrow. There is no history that can harm God’s children… no person that can damage anyone. We’re held in Love’s protection. We’re guided, governed and always expressing that Love.

That’s all. God’s always talking to every one of His children- no one is left out of that… so everyone in my son’s life (including him) is complete and getting the ideas they need to carry out God’s work each moment.

So, we can forgive and celebrate God’s Love!

Wow, forgiving yourself. I love how your ideas bring out that it’s just as important a step to see yourself as innocent, as it is to see someone else’s innocence. One can’t exist without the other.

Thank you for listening to receive this song, and for sharing it with all of us!
