Raising the dead . . . for real

Why is it so shocking to imagine raising the dead?  Jesus said, “The person who trusts me will not only do what I’m doing but even greater things….”  John 14:12 (The Message). So open your thought to new possibilities — as Christian Science healer Lona Ingwerson did when a friend’s husband “died” of a heart attack.

The Bible story that Lona refers to, with the Shunammite woman, can be found at 2 Kings 4:18-37.

HEAL the sick, cast out evil, raise the dead

thanks for this radical healing testimony, thanks for the comments, thanks for helping us realize not to give up or give in.

  3. Carlos says:

Lona, thank you so much for sharing. This is exactly what I needed to get the day started. I’ve often thought that our expectations of the good we can accomplish need to be raised and all limits erased. Stories like this do a lot to adjust our perspective on what is possible!

  4. I deeply appreciate this radical act–Lona’s telling of the “incident” is so confident, so matter-of-fact. Actually, that’s an odd phrase for me to use, because matter was NOT the fact! I profess to be a Jesus-follower . . . so I need to follow him in EVERYthing he did. This whole Radical Acts adventure this summer has really wakened my thinking. Roused me. Thank you.

  5. Sylvia Ammann says:

  8. Holland says:

Thank you!! This helped heal me.

  9. Sheila says:

I love this. Thank you. It’s only ‘shocking’ or impressive to mortal sense which believes in beginging and ending – in death.

  10. Amy says:

Your conviction is unmistakable. What a demonstration! Thank you for sharing this with us all.

  11. Jackie says:

What blesses one blesses all – so many thanks

  12. Hannah says:

I love this. Not for the dramatic story (nice though!), but for the very end about raising dead hopes, a dead career, etc. I also love the part about how we don’t put up with disease, we heal it. Thanks.

  13. Ward V Buzzell says:

Thanks for sharing, Lona. Your approach to healing any problem is always so easy and simple, and this truly is so helpful.

  14. Susie says:

This is a profound healing. Amazing. I shouldn’t be amazed, as good is normal. But, really wonderful.
(I love all the music on this site, but for some reason, the music throughout this account didn’t sit well with me. It gave it kind of a soap opera feeling.)

  15. Anne Huckins says:

Thank you so much for this invigorating account of the power of Truth!
